Rising Flames by r51 Rising Flames by r51
Another shot from Dale Chihuly's recent exhibition at the New York Botanical Garden. This one is of a piece to which I no longer have the name, taken from about hip level, down the line of the Conservatory's inner courtyard. In real terms, most of these tongues rose above six feet from the gravel, and were underlit for the Chihuly Nights portion of the exhibit.

Ahh, I thought that this was a almost macro photo with the flash, that is the way that the lighting suggested :>

You may want to increase the depth of field a tad, so that all the flame things are in focus, but apart from that, no complaints from this end :>

Hehe, I am going to have to check out this Dale guy, he has the same first name as me :>

God bless.

Dale.

I think you're right about the DoF. I should recheck the EXIF on that shot and see what aperture I was shooting at. You can check him out at chihuly.com - it looks like he's not been to Australia since 2000, so maybe he's due for another trip down there. Of course, since Australia is huge and all, that may or may not help you!

Oh, and he's got an eyepatch. So he's doubly cool as an artist and as someone who looks like a pirate.

Wow, thanks very much. I had this one printed already to put into a collage and I was actually surprised at how well it turned out!

Wow. Love the color contrast and lighting effects with this photo. It really makes quite an impact on my eyes. I also appreciate the angle that you took your photo at. It makes it much more interesting having that diagonal in there.

Thank you very much. The angle is most certainly what made it interesting to me.

Very nice capture. Dramatic it is, with the contrast of color and lighting.
