I drove by this tree on the way into Washington Park in Springfield, Illinois this past weekend, and it struck me immediately, so much so that I made my longest walk of the day to get back to it from the parking lot to get a couple shots. This tree has been struck by lightning, and is failing miserably. However, lying underneath it on a sunny day, you can still see its fight for life - the contrast of the bright sun shining through the dying branches is a spiritual sight even for an agnost like me.
On a related note, I need to work with black and white more often.
very spiritual, indeed.. i see you too lay under trees. thats one of my things... such a great perspective! how awesome! well done..and the B&W looks fab too.
This is an excellent shot, though I have a bias towards black & white and nature photography. Great angle, and excellent framing, I particularly like how the sunlight is breaking through the clouds at the moment this was taken.

This is still one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken, and one of only three that I've ever printed and framed for myself. I'm really glad you like it as much as I do.

This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
